Bridge, 2013
I became fascinated with shotgun homes from the first time I saw one. They are long and slender, born of utility, squeezed by a dense urban fabric into a shape with proportions not commonly found in homes. With my Bridge sculpture I created a tunnel through a wood structure inspired by a shotgun house. Viewers experience the structure from a human scale doorway that expands to the outer limits of the structure's section. Bridge distorts and condenses the experience of being inside and outside the sculpture.
