Cemeteries, 2018 – ongoing
My cemetery rubbings are made from maps of historic, military, and famous cemeteries that I translate into digital drawings then cut into plastic sheets using a robotic cutting machine. These meshes of lines define plots where people present a final statement about life, their last chance to create a lasting memory. The rubbed images of line cause me to question the effectiveness of a burial plot versus working toward a legacy that won't lose context and fade away.
